Nigeria’s electoral body, the Independent National Electoral Commission in collaboration with an NGO called the Pan African Women Projects, PAWP, has embarked on a sensitisation campaign to encourage market women to collect their permanent voter’s cards, PVCs ahead of the 2023 general election.
The sensitisation program is targeting market women in the North-central geopolitical zone of the country.
Speaking at the event in Lafia, the Head of the PAWP, Dr. Eno Udensi says the campaign aims to reorient women to go and collect their PVCs.
She said those who registered and have not collected should get it to elect candidates of their choice in 2023.
Dr. Udensi further charged women not to be afraid that their vote would not count, that with the introduction of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, BVAS device, the vote would counted and the polling unit are safe from thugs.
“Women turn up so much at the polling unit to vote during the election and the women that vote are the grassroots majority of which is the market women.
“Women should not be afraid that their vote would not count, with the introduction of the BVAS, their vote would count, the polling unit is now safe from thugs.
“Your PVC is your right, the PVC is their power, the PVC is their voice, Na Person wet Sabi body dey get PVC,” she added.
